- Each registered student is issued a Student ID card at the time of registration. Students cannot borrow any items from the library without the students’ ID card.
- A student may borrow a maximum of 2 items for HND/HNC and 3 books for Honors Program at any given time. Students, who insist in borrowing over their limit, may have their borrowing privileges withdrawn for a period of time as decided by the Library Officer.
- Each item is loaned for 2 week depending on availability. A student, who wishes to keep an item after its due date, may apply for a renewal, either in person or in writing. Provided no other student has requested this item for loan, a renewal for a further period of 1 week will normally be granted. A maximum of two renewals are permitted.
- Material designated ‘For Reference Only’ may not be taken from the library. Students who ignore the restrictions on these items may have their library privileges withdrawn until all outstanding items are returned and any overdue fines are paid.
- Any item which is removed from the library without being properly recorded and authorized may be regarded as stolen and appropriate action may be taken, including informing the authorities.
- A student who fails to return a borrowed item by the due date shall receive a formal notice of the overdue item. If the item remains unreturned after a second and final notice, the Library Officer may withdraw Library privileges from the student. The student may also take such necessary steps to recover or replace the item. A replacement and a handling fee may be charged.
- Overdue fines are charged at the rate of 300 baiza per item per day. Overdue fines on short Loan items are charged at a rate of 200 baiza per day.
- In exceptional circumstances, an item on loan may be recalled to the library.
- Students may not borrow on anyone’s name but their own. No student may transfer a loan to another student. The student in whose name the loan is recorded shall be regarded as the borrower and shall be responsible for the return of the item.
- Students are required to take care of the material in their possession; any damage to a library item at the time of the loan must be brought to the attention of Library staff. A student who loses or damages an item may be charged for repair or replacement.
