Structure of the Project Management Program
Bachelor of Project Management with Honours program is designed to provide the students with the knowledge and skills in the areas of project management such as construction management, construction technologies, project portfolio management, project cost analysis, project risk management, project negotiation and project scheduling. The major aim of the Project Management program is to provide the students with the required professional skills in order to enable them to start careers as project executives/managers in various sectors of industry. This program addresses the humanities aspects as well by incorporating a range of courses from management such as economics, accounting and finance, industrial psychology, quality management of technology, communication and business ethics.
Employment Prospects for Graduates
Looking at today’s competitive global economy, companies and institutions have started to turn to project management to deliver better business results. The growth in these massive construction projects further opens up employment prospects of the successful graduates. There is an increasing demand for the qualified and knowledgeable professionals in the field of project management; particularly with the huge expansion of infrastructure in the Sultanate of Oman with numerous railway projects, ports, roads and housing projects in the coming years. The course contents of this program are in line with the current trends in the project management industry in Oman and enable wide range of employment opportunities for the successful graduates.
Students are expected to have complete the General Education Diploma (General Secondary) or its equivalent and meet the English language requirements (General English Language Certificate) or its equivalent.
Students with HND/diploma in management related fields from other colleges/universities may apply for admission into the program. The admission will be subject to credits transfer process.
Normal Study Period: 4 years/8 Semesters after English Foundation Program with 120 credit hours. However, students may take longer to graduate in case of slow progression.
Degree Awarded: Bachelor of Project Management with Honours.
Awarding Body: After the successful completion of the program requirements, the students will be awarded with the Award/Exit certificates from Muscat College which is recognised by the University of Malaysia Pahang.
Exit Diploma: In Project Management after 2 years/4 Semester of study with 60 credit hours.
Normal Study Load: Five courses/15 credit hours per semester. Extended load up to six courses (18 credit hours) per semester may be granted for students with CGPA higher than 3.67 with departmental approval.
