One Day National Workshop on Big Data ( BigD2020 )
in Association with University of Stirling, Scotland, UK

Big Data:

Oman 2040 visualizes a society of creative individuals with one of the strategic directions is to have Inclusive Education, Life-long Learning, and Scientific Research that Lead to a Knowledge Society and Competitive National Talent. This can be achieved only if the higher education sector produces enough professionals who can manage a competitive economy that is integrated with the world economy.

Big Data is about much more than data. It represents a new way of doing business – one that is driven by data – based decision-making. Leveraging Big Data capabilities, large volumes of varied sources of data – both internal and from third – parties – can deliver “intelligence at the moment” – insight and intelligence derived from fast moving data sets can help inform split second strategy decisions, spur innovation, inspire new products, enhance customer relationships, uncover fraud, bolster operations and build competitive advantage.

Objective:

Keeping the Oman’s vision 2040, Muscat College, being one of the oldest private colleges in Oman, has taken the leading step by organizing a national workshop on Big Data in association with University of Stirling, UK. This would definitely be an opportunity for the youth in Sultanate of Oman to get the knowledge and practical experience with the latest technology and tools (MongoDB, Hadoop, Python and Weka) used in the industry and help them to explore new horizons in their career.
