The realization of projects involves many activities including construction, maintenance, and refurbishment. Such activities requires experts to plan the construction process, mobilize the resources, coordinate with specialist services taking responsibility for the safe and timely completion of the projects to the budget and specified standards.
The aim of the course is to equip the students with necessary skills to develop them as dynamic Construction Managers. After completing the course students will be able to forecast, plan, organize and control physical and human resource needed for the accomplishment of a construction Project. Students are required to obtain a minimum of 12 credits for the HNC award. In the HND award, the students are required to obtain 30 credits, 28 are core credits and 2 are optional. A credit value is equivalent to 44 contact hours.
The course would normally be undertaken on a 2– year full-time basis. The academic year comprises of 3 semesters, and the entrance requirements: Higher Education Certificate with Mathematics and physics, or other equivalent certificate. Also, students have to pass an English language placement test. .
Exemption may be granted for students with sufficient proficiency in English language or have a recognized English language test score.
The graduates from this specialization are trained to work in private or government sectors as a part of construction management team as Construction Managers, Construction Planners etc…
They can also work in areas of housing associations, local authorities, construction companies, architectural and construction consultants etc..
After the successful completion of the program requirements, the students will be awarded with the certificates from the Scottish Qualification Authority.
